about

All My Life (The Songs Of Manny Campbell) showcases the talent of producer Emanuel Milton Campbell Jr. Dating back to 1968 Manny (as he prefers to be called) worked with a young Carolyn Porter from Chester PA, hiring the then newly formed backing band at Sigma Sound Studios here in Philadelphia. Joe Tarsia started Sigma Sound Studios a few months earlier after leaving Cameo Parkway Records. This band is one of the earliest collaborations of what would eventually go on to be known as MFSB - members included Earl Young (drums) Norman Harris (guitar) Ronnie Baker (bass) Lenny Paluka (B3 Hammond) and occasionally Bobby Eli (guitar). This original session was never officially released, however Manny travelled back to Philadelphia in 1970 to cut another 6 tracks with an array of artists that he had in his stable, using the same studio musicians. What you'll hear here are the two original 1968 tunes, how they were intended to be released, transferred from the ORIGNAL 1/4 mix-down tapes, then the 1970 session, both vocal cuts and instrumental. We thought it was important to highlight the band as much as possible because of their significance to the history of Philadelphia music. The two 2" 16 track tapes have been lovingly re-mixed and remastered by myself, P. Maxwell Ochester and our engineer Brendon McGeehan, as well as Tom Moulton, doing what he calls the "original Philly sound" mix on I'm A Loner & Trouble Trouble. Please enjoy these songs and we look forward to hearing your feedback. Vinyl/CD/45rpm coming MId--Late summer 2021.

about

Brewerytown Records Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The music is alive and very symbolic of Ron Aikens' life, evolution, and perspective. His newfound interest in his own music perhaps encouraged him to make one more swing at a dream that goes back nearly three-quarters of a century. "I'm here. I'm breathing," he says in a West Philly coffee shop with a smile and wide eyes. "I ain't gone yet. If I'm gonna breathe, I need to sing!" ... more
